Your Questions Answered:
How much do iPhone repairs cost in Sydney?
The average iPhone repair service cost in Sydney is $90.00-$200.00 AUD. This cost depends on a few factors including the severity of the damage and quality of the parts used for the repair. Getting Apple to fix your iPhone via a genius bar appointment will generally be your most expensive option and incur the longest turnaround times. Your iPhone screen repair cost will also vary between each different iPhone model, the repairs for newer releases costing more and the older models costing less. After very new annual iPhone release, the iPhone part costs tend to significantly reduce making it cheaper every year to get your iPhone repaired.
How long does it take repair my iPhone?
Almost all common iPhone repairs can be repaired within 30 minutes. To ensure the fastest repair time possible, ensure that your iPhone is activated, charged and has a woking sim card inserted so our technician can test your device immediately and commence the repair right away.
Is my iPhone worth fixing?
For broken screens, faulty batteries, intermittent charging ports and broken cameras, iPhone repairs are a much cheaper option than to shell out $1000-$2000 for a new iPhone. Each repair is different and our expert technicians will instantly be able to assess if your device is worth fixing. To determine wether repairing your iPhone is economically viable, there’s a few factors you may want to consider.
1. How old is your phone?
When older models get damaged, the cost of the repair might outweigh the benefit of getting it fixed. The operating system on older models tends to slow down over affecting the user experience. In addition, old phones are likely to have battery issues and in some cases the internal IC ships on the main board get compromised though years of use. In addition, some models are built with less storage space, who can live with a 16GB anymore?. In some instances, allocating your money towards a new device is sometimes your best option.
2. What is the severity of the damage?
Generally if there are three or more things wrong with your phone, getting a replacement might be worth considering. For example, if the screen, battery, charging connector and camera are all damaged, swapping the device out directly with Apple for a refurbished handset might be the way to go. In addition, if your phone is severely liquid damaged or the frame is completely bent out of shape, even after a successful repair, it could experience issues shortly after. Thankfully the majority of repairs are singular and fixing the damage is a much more cost effective solution that spending a fortune on a new one.
3. Are you worried about losing the data?
The risk of losing data is often the determining factor when deciding to repair or replace a broken iPhone. For obvious reasons, most customers care more about the information stored inside than the actual device itself. In these cases, regardless of the damage sustained, repairing your phone would be the best option. In situations where the device cannot be fixed, in most cases we can still recovery the data from the memory chip.
Will I Void My Apple Warranty?
If your iPhone gets damaged, your Apple repair warranty is automatically voided as manufacture warranty will cover you for faults only. If you book an appointment at the genius bar, they will assess the damage and you will be charged for the repair or replacement accordingly. Authorised Apple screen replacements range from $200 to $650 and for any additional damage, prices are between $300 and $1000. If you have AppleCare, screen repair prices for all models are around $45 and for additional damage $149. Turnaround times and bookings can vary from a few hours up to a week and any information stored on the device can be lost. If you choose to go down the Apple route but need data recovered from the phone, please contact us for iPhone data recovery services.
What’s covered under my Apple repair warranty?
If your phone was purchased within 2 years of experiencing a manufacture fault, you may be able to take your device back into Apple within the country of origin for a replacement or repair under warranty. That’s assuming there’s no signs physical or water damage. When your phone gets damaged, your Apple warranty is instantly voided. In addition, if you have had the device for over 2 years, any faults will also fall outside manufacture warranty period. Thankfully, Fone Fix can repair almost any faults or damage regardless of your Apple warranty status.
What if I can’t remember my Passcode?
Your Apple ID protects your data; even Apple can’t get access to it. If you have set up iCloud on your phone or have ever purchased an iTunes app, then whenever you restart, update, reset or remove the battery, you will most likely be prompted to insert the Apple ID and passcode. If you have forgotten it, you can follow some simple recovery processes to get it back. If you’ve already tried this method to no avail or the account wasn’t set up in your name, activation is impossible. There’s currently no solution to solve this problem and you must always take care to remember your ID, have access to your recovery method or ensure that any device your purchase has the iCloud/find my iPhone feature switched off.
Do iPhone repairs erase data?
It’s important that prior to any hardware or software repair, if possible, to do a full backup of any data. The chances of you losing your data from a repair is almost zero, however, mobile phones are complex electronic devices and no one can guarantee for 100% that data won’t be lost in the repair process. The extent of damage can’t truly be known until the device has been opened as there may be additional complications inside the device that are not identifiable from assessing the external damage. If you’re unable to secure the data, maybe your device is too badly damaged or it won’t switch on. In any case, for the vast majority of repairs, any information stored on the device will remain intact. If your device can’t be repaired, data recovery services are also available if required.
Can you repair a disabled iPhone?
If you are getting a notification displaying the message “connect to iTunes” or “not available” in almost all cases it means your passcode has been entered to many times and has ben disabled. This is a safety feature that is automatically tuned on in the settings for every new phone. The problem with this feature is, when you damage your display and the touch module feature is intermittent, it can enter your passcode by itself disabling the device. In addition, if your children get their hands on it while you’re not looking, they can also attempt to enter your code incorrectly to many times and unknowingly disable the phone. In this event, any data that has not been backed up will almost certainly be lost as the device will need to be restored to get it back to a functional state. This disabling feature can actually be turned off from within your settings to prevent this from happening to you.
Ho do I identify my iPhone model?
If you are unsure of what model you have there are a few ways you can check.
1. Printed on the back
On some models you can find the model, serial and IMEI number printed on the back of the device itself.
2. Find it in the settings
If you can still operate your phone, you can go to Settings > General > About. Your model will depend on the country and region of origin and is identified my the corresponding model number.
